We are a sister duo. With big sis Van, "Von", as the lead, main baker/decorator, and lil' sis Ngoc, "knock", behind the scenes as the computer tech, market/promotion and advertising guru. Together with our love of making creative sweets, we opened our bakery, NV Cupcakes in 2010. We were born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, both graduated at the University of North Texas in Denton, and currently reside in Denton. "GO Mean Green!"
Van is a mother of 3 (Gabriel - 9, Avery - 2 and baby Brennan) She is the heart and soul of the bakery and loves everything having to do with food, cooking, and baking. As the oldest of 4, she was the cook of the family preparing meals for her younger siblings after school while their parents were at work. She can easily open a fridge and make a delicious meal in a matter of minutes. Her passion for food and desserts lead to her dream of owning her own bakery.
Ngoc is a new mother to an adorable little boy, Collin. She is the younger sister by four years and has been right along side of Van in the kitchen as her sous chef and right hand from the time she could stand. If her sister Van was in the kitchen, Ngoc was there right beside her cleaning up her mess and making sure things tasted just right. So when it was time to open up NV Cupcakes, it was only natural that Ngoc and Van did it together.
In 2009, they signed up for the Dallas Bridal Show, with a tiny booth and tons of mini cupcake samples. Little did they know they were the newest upcoming fad in the wedding industry and newest craze in the world of sweets. Together as a team they went on a limb and opened NV Cupcakes in 2010 with just the money they have saved in their "cupcake fund" from baking for family and friends. Over the years they have accumulated many awards ranging from Entrepreneur of the Year, Best of Denton, Best of Denton County, Taste of North Texas, featured on Good Morning Texas, and contestants on Food Network's Cupcake Wars. They are each others best friends and are truly the sweetest sister cupcake duo in North Texas!
